AAF FORT WORTH ANNOUNCES 2024 AMERICAN ADVERTISING AWARDS WINNERS

Hoegger Communications of Wichita Falls wins Best of Show

FORT WORTH, Texas, Feb. 26, 2024 — The Fort Worth chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) announced today that Hoegger Communications won Best of Show for its Internet Commercial entry “Loving: The Exhibition” at the 2024 American Advertising Awards Show Presented by GlassView on Friday.

AAF Fort Worth’s annual American Advertising Awards competition represents the first step for those looking to win national ADDY Awards. Local entrants compete against each other in over 300 categories to earn ADDYs—awards that represent the best in the market. AAF Fort Worth’s Gold ADDY winners will now automatically advance to the regional competition, while Silver ADDY winners may choose to advance. The regional winners will then compete at the national level.

“With ‘Loving: The Exhibition,’ the Hoegger team created a moving piece about the power of forgotten photography as storytelling,” said Mike Rainey, one of the panel judges who reviewed the 259 professional entries and 57 student entries that were submitted to the competition. “Watching ‘Loving,’ I was especially impressed by the editing and how it was beautifully crafted. My fellow judges were awestruck by many aspects of the exhibition.”

The internet commercial focused on a photography exhibit that chronicled gay couples from the 1850s to the 1950s, blending commentary from exhibit-goers in multiple languages to show that photography and love are universal. This year’s Best of Show award follows Hoegger Communications winning Best of Video for their ‘Beyond Loving’ campaign at last year’s competition.

Sarmad Adelakun, Kathryn Herrera and Elisabeth Pico, students at the University of Texas at Arlington, won Student Best of Show for their Integrated Brand Identity Campaign entry for Nomad Motor Co. The campaign incorporated the design of a logo, color palette and iconography, which were woven across a website, out-of-home ads, merchandise, social ads, business cards, stationery and a vehicle wrap.

“It was an absolute honor to celebrate so many talented creatives at both the student and professional levels,” said Chris McIntyre, AAF Fort Worth’s American Advertising Awards chair. “We’re thrilled to see so many entries moving on to the regional competition. In line with this year’s theme, ‘Creative Revolution,’ the work that is advancing shows that despite all of the concerns about artificial intelligence replacing advertising jobs, creativity is alive and well in North Texas.”

The full breakdown of awards presented at the ceremony consists of:

  • 22 Gold ADDYs, including 4 “Best of” awards and 3 Special Judges’ Awards;

  • 31 Silver ADDYs;

  • 5 Student Gold ADDYs, including 1 Best of Show and 2 Special Judges’ Awards;

  • 9 Student Silver ADDYs; and

  • 21 Revolutionary AI Human Awards, representing AAF Fort Worth’s exclusive award that’s presented to honorees whose work redefined what it means to be human.

Agency Habitat won Best of Interactive, while The Cooper Studio won a Special Judges’ Award for Integrated Brand Identity and Best of Print. A Special Judges’ Award for Cinematography went to Twelve Midnight, and a Special Judges’ Award for Art Direction went to Twisted X. Red Productions won Best of Electronic, as well as the Mosaic ADDY Award, which is given to the entry that best exemplifies a spirit of diversity and inclusion.

Reagan Oates of Texas Christian University won a Student Special Judges’ Award for Interactive, and Jason Guerrero of the University of Texas at Arlington won a Student Special Judges’ Award for Animation.

Other professional winners include Balcom Agency, Circles Co. Collective, N8 Visuals Inc., Prelude Films, Pugnacious LLC and Schaefer Advertising Co. In addition to students from Texas Christian University and the University of Texas at Arlington, students from the University of North Texas also won ADDY Awards.
